2018-11-10, Kyle K, If you Walk …

Seder 99 “If you Walk in my Statutes…” The Seder reading this week comes from Lev. 26:3-46, with the main link words to the prophet reading (i.e. haftarah) being ‘if,’ ‘land,’ and ‘sword.’ In both the Seder and the Haftarah (Isaiah 1:19-2:5), the Children of Israel are admonished to follow God’s just and good commands via the ‘If…then’ covenant/pact which their Savior has initiated, and in so doing received the blessings he offers. So why do followers of Jesus sometimes struggle to deal respectfully towards the commands of God and righteous living? Would our attempt at righteousness somehow diminish Jesus’ righteousness? Heaven forbid!
